A Family Endeavor
The first generation of our family started farming in 1976 growing alfalfa and trees. As the family grew the second generation started Western Skies Hay in 2003 to add value and create a new market for premium horse hay. Selling to top performing horses that have competed in the Kentucky Derby and the Budweiser Clydesdales, just to name a few. With the increased difficulties in continuing a family farm the third generation still in high school had to come up with a plan to add value to the family farm. Being active members of FFA and 4H they saw the current small animal feeds and knew we could grow and sell a better quality hay for small animals.
Western Skies Hay is an ultra-premium hay company that is home to many satisfied customers. At Western Skies Hay, we pride ourselves on producing the best quality hay found on the market today. We are a 100% family ran business with three generations working side by side to deliver the highest quality products from start to finish. Unlike some of our competitors, we do not outsource any hay. Our hay is all grown on our farm to become a world class product that will satisfy the needs of your animals big and small.
Our farm is located in the Bighorn Basin of Northwestern Wyoming, just 60 miles outside of Yellowstone National Park. Our irrigation water comes from the snowmelt and runoff originating in Yellowstone. The water comes straight from the mountains to our fields, never running through town, ensuring that our hay receives some of the cleanest irrigation water in the country. The high desert climate of Northwest Wyoming makes for an excellent environment to grow and harvest premium hay.
